Bio
Hello! My name is Amelia, and I have been passionately serving students since 2015. As an educator of ten years, my focus has been dedicated to English Language Arts and Social-Emotional support. While academic growth and goals are important to maintain and create, the catalysts for success are trusting and caring relationships that are built between teachers and students. When any child is met with a kind and consistent approach, every student is capable of achieving personal and academic victories. With this foundation, students achieve the courage and confidence to overcome challenges and take more intellectual risks. My educational approach provides children with love in every lesson, to promote exploration of self, and find the fun in being a life-long learner. Whether we are improving reading skills, drafting essays, strengthening vocabulary, deepening comprehension and connection to literature, or creating resumés, our time will be spent seeing and feeling progress, together!
Teacher Specialization
My educational background includes a Bachelor Degree in English Language Arts grades 7-12, a Masters Degree in Special Education (K-12), and training in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT). My educational experience extends beyond the classroom, as I served students in various capacities. As an Internship Coordinator, I assisted students ages 15-21 in developing a sense of professionalism and obtaining soft skills to apply to internship opportunities. As an Assistant Principal of four years, my acquired skills in leadership allow me to understand the pressures that can come at every age and stage, and can aid students in navigating and wielding their own personal power. I, myself, was diagnosed with ADHD when I was in my youth. Through development of life-skills, consistent routines, and innovative strategies, neuro-divergent individuals can thrive and achieve great success!
