Bio
Hi, my name is Mrs. Amy Chism. I am a dedicated educator committed to creating a safe, supportive learning environment where all students—especially those with diverse learning needs—feel valued and understood. My work is rooted in special education, where patience, flexibility, and compassion are essential. My educational philosophy centers on meeting students where they are and providing individualized, meaningful instruction that builds both skills and confidence. I believe every student can succeed when given the right support and encouragement. As a tutor, my goal is to foster independence, growth, and self-confidence by breaking learning into manageable steps and celebrating progress along the way. I prioritize building strong, trusting relationships with students by learning their strengths, interests, and needs. This connection allows me to create a positive, safe space where students feel comfortable taking risks and reaching their full potential.
Teacher Specialization
I have over 15 years of experience in teaching and tutoring, primarily online, with additional experience in blended learning and in-person instruction. I have taught both resource and self-contained special education classes, supporting students across a wide range of academic and developmental needs. I have experience teaching students in grades 3–12, with middle school as my primary area of expertise. I support core content areas, including reading, writing, and math, and integrate technology to enhance engagement and accessibility across learning environments. I hold a degree in and specialize in special education, with a focus on supporting students with autism and diverse learning needs. My background includes implementing individualized instruction, behavior supports, and differentiated strategies to promote student success.
