Bio
Hi, my name is Andrea Hudson. I live in a rural area of northeast Oklahoma. I am a wife, a mom of 3, and a grandmother of 8! If I am not tutoring, you will probably find me outside running, hiking, kayaking, or just relaxing in the pool. My teaching career has been based on the belief that all students learn best through curiosity and creativity. As a teacher, I focus on the student as a person first and the content next. My goal for my students is to get them to a place where they are comfortable in my classroom, confident in their abilities, and ready for the next challenge. We will find the specific problems they are having and devise the best study/learning path for them to find success in learning. Teaching is my gift that I will use to help the student to develop their gifts and find workable solutions for their weaknesses. As a self-described lifetime learner, my students give me opportunities to learn new methods of teaching and new perspectives they bring to the classroom.
Teacher Specialization
I graduated Northeastern State University with a BS in Elementary Education with a focus on mathematics and upper level mathematics. I developed a tutoring program in a public school system before I began teaching full time in 2000. In the classroom, I am experienced in teaching math grades 2 and 6-8, Algebra 1 & 2, pre-Algebra, Intermediate Algebra, Social Studies grades 7-8, all 2nd grade curriculum, Gifted and Talented students, and students who are needing remediation. I have tutored ESL students online for 7 years. Most recently, I have coordinated STEM programs for grades 6-12 and currently lead robotics teams.
