Bio
As an experienced classroom teacher, I have never lost my passion for helping students build confidence, overcome challenges, and discover what they are capable of achieving. I believe every student can grow academically when they feel safe, supported, and capable. My goal is to create a learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and taking academic risks without fear of judgment. One of my greatest strengths as a tutor is helping students feel at ease when they don't understand something the first time. I'll explain concepts in different ways until they click. I provide encouraging, specific feedback that helps students build understanding, confidence, and independence so they leave each session believing they can succeed.
Teacher Specialization
My specialization is helping middle and high school students build confidence and strengthen their skills in math and science. With over 18 years of experience as a classroom teacher, including 3 years teaching for a Stride online school, I have extensive experience providing individualized instruction and supporting students through tutoring. I hold a Master's degree in Secondary Science Education and have taught mathematics, biology, and environmental science. I specialize in grades 6 through Algebra, helping students strengthen foundational skills, improve problem-solving strategies, prepare for assessments, and develop a deeper understanding of concepts. My background in wildlife biology allows me to bring real-world examples into science lessons and help students connect learning to the world around them. I focus on meeting students where they are and finding the approach that helps them succeed.
