Bio
Hello, I'm so glad to have a chance to share a little bit about myself. I've been in the field of education for over 20 years. I believe all students can learn and progress in their academic abilities. I love to teach struggling learners how to read and problems solve. There are so many different ways our brains learn it's important to provide a variety of ways to learn. I am looking forward to working one on one or with small groups of students. I find using different modalities for learning, lots of hands on or manipulatives, are so helpful. Even in a virtual environment there are tools available for students to manipulate to help in the area of math or sciences. My hope is to have students leave me with a love of learning. I like to start of sessions with students spending a few minutes getting to know each others, and I do share a little about myself. I want students to leave our sessions feeling valued, and that someone was listening.
Teacher Specialization
I taught in the state of California for 18 years and for the past 4 years I've been teaching in Tennessee. I have a masters degree in Special Education, a BA in Communicative Disorders and I'm credentialed in both Special Education and Elementary Education in both California and Tennessee. I have been working with children in special education for 18 years now. I've been working with TNVA in a virtual classroom for 4 years. I am currently working with 3rd graders but have worked in grades 3-8 in special education, and 2nd grade in general education. My focus has been in Reading and Math, but I have taught social studies and science in grades 2-6th.
