Bio
As a tutor, I believe every student can learn and grow when they have the right support, encouragement, and instruction. I want our time together to be meaningful, with clear expectations and helpful feedback. I always strive to form positive relationships so that students feel comfortable working with me, asking questions, and even making mistakes! I hope that I can give students specific, encouraging, and honest feedback as they're learning. I want to help students understand how they can improve, rather than just tell them if they are right or wrong. I also want students to become more independent learners—to think through problems, try things on their own, and understand that mistakes are a big part of learning! Ultimately, my goal isn’t just to help a student finish an assignment or improve a grade. I want to help them build the confidence and skills they need to make school a good experience rather than a stressful one.
Teacher Specialization
I have experience in grades K-8. I have also taught middle school English/Language Arts, middle school Creative Writing, 6th grade World Geography, 7th Grade Ancient Civilizations, 8th Grade US History, and Kindergarten. I have tutored individual students and worked with small groups in an after-school program. Most recently, I was teaching 6th Grade World Geography in a small, rural school in Michigan. I love finding ways to make teaching and learning fun!
