Bio
Hello! My name is Ms. Ashley Svedin! I am an elementary teacher who loves to teach students. One of my favorite parts of teaching is when something clicks for a student and they accomplish the skill they have been working hard on! So as a teacher, I strive to help you accomplish the skills you need to read, write, or do your math skills. I want to see you grow in your learning and have those moments when you get something that you have been working so hard on! My teaching approach is creating a supportive, engaging, and enjoyable environment for you to learn and grow in. I do this by doing three things. First, I am patient, kind, and give lots of opportunities for you to grow in your learning. Second, I use the gradual release model where I first model the skill, then we do the skill together, and then you try it on your own. Third, I build relationships with my students so that I can learn how to best teach you! I am so excited to get to know you and to start tutoring you!
Teacher Specialization
I am a certified elementary teacher with 11 years of experience in all grades K-5th with a Bachelors in Elementary Education and a Master’s Degree in Reading. I started teaching in 4th grade, then I taught for 5 years in 2nd grade, then I became a reading coach where I stepped in to teach Kindergarten for half of the year! After that I moved and taught 3rd grade for a year, but then the next year I stepped up to teach a 2nd and 3rd grade combined class for two more years. Last year, I taught 2nd grade again! I have subbed in all elementary grades and even some middle school grades. I have tutored online and in person for about 3 years and I have seen great growth from the students I have taught!
