Bio

Hi, my name is Brooke. I am a Californian currently living in Buffalo, NY! I am an animal lover and enjoy exploring the outdoors. I believe in helping students become happy, productive adults that feel confident in themselves and have the background and knowledge that helps them make informed and educated decisions. Learning is important, but understanding how to learn is one of the most important skills to master. Because of my background in project-based learning, I try to make things hands-on, even when working virtually. Nothing beats hands-on experience. I love getting to know my students on a personal level and also getting to know how they learn best. I am very patient and supportive when it comes to pace and level of understanding. I also believe that making mistakes is an important part of the learning process and try to help my students understand that making mistakes is okay! Giving and receiving feedback is also important to me, it's what helps us learn and grow!

Teacher Specialization

I have one year of Academic Coaching experience and 8 years of lead teaching experience in a project-based learning environment. I taught four years of 7th grade Humanities and four years of 6th grade Math/Science. I also worked as a mentor for new teachers. I have experience providing students with individual as well as group instruction when needed.
