Bio
My name is Carol Lowe and I love to read and and garden. I have been in education for 42 years and I have always strived to be the kind of teacher that I would want my own children and grandchildren to have. I hold a bachelor's degree in both elementary and special education, and a master’s degree in educational leadership and policy. I am trained in balanced literacy and have an ESL Endorsement. In my teaching career, I have always tried to make sure that all students are treated equally, fairly and with respect. If I were to state my educational philosophy in as few words as possible, it would be, “The bottom line is the students.” I look at at each student as an unique individual with special strengths, talents, and gifts, then build upon these qualities. I believe that each student is entitled to a quality education, which meets their own individual needs.
Teacher Specialization
In general education I have taught kindergarten through third grade. In special education, I have taught early childhood through 9th grade and homebound students. As a Title 1 Coordinator, one of my duties was to implement and oversee all interventions from kindergarten through sixth grade. My goal of tutoring is to ensure that tutoring sessions will be engaging and effective, helping you develop the skills needed for your educational journey. I will be using the Gradual Release of Responsibility instructional model summarized as, I do, We do, You do. I will model the skill or target objective. Next, we will work together on the skill or target objective through engaging content. Finally, you will will practice the skill or target objective. You will receive support throughout the tutoring session.
