Bio
I believe students learn best when instruction is personalized to their individual strengths, needs, and learning styles. As a tutor, I use differentiated strategies, provide ongoing, meaningful feedback, and continuously assess understanding so I can adjust instruction, build confidence, and help each student reach their full potential. My goal as a tutor is to help students become confident, independent learners who believe in their ability to succeed. I strive to create a positive and supportive learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and celebrating their progress. I work to identify each student's strengths and areas for growth, personalize instruction to meet their individual needs, and provide clear, engaging explanations that make learning meaningful. Beyond improving grades or test scores, I help students develop critical thinking, problem-solving, and learning strategies they can use long after our tutoring sessions.
Teacher Specialization
I specialize in elementary education (Grades 3–6), with extensive experience teaching mathematics, reading, writing, science, and social studies. During my 30-year career in public education, I developed and delivered engaging, standards-based lessons that met the needs of diverse learners and helped students build confidence and independence. For more than 10 years, I have also provided one-on-one private tutoring in math and reading, tailoring instruction to each student's learning style and academic goals. In addition to classroom instruction, I have extensive experience teaching and tutoring online using a variety of platforms. I am comfortable using digital whiteboards, shared documents, interactive learning tools, and screen sharing to create engaging virtual lessons. My online approach emphasizes clear communication, active student participation, and personalized instruction that helps students make meaningful progress.
