Bio
Hi, I’m Catherine! I believe every student can be successful when they feel supported, encouraged, and confident in their abilities. I strive to create a positive learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and learning at their own pace. My goal as a tutor is to help students grow academically while also building their confidence and independence as learners. I enjoy getting to know each student and finding ways to make learning meaningful and engaging for them. I believe that building a strong relationship with students through patience, kindness, and encouragement is an important part of helping them succeed.
Teacher Specialization
I have over 20 years of experience working with children and a strong background in both traditional and virtual education. I have spent nine years working in online education, including six years teaching first grade virtually and three years teaching English online. I have also worked with students in kindergarten, second, and fourth grades and have experience providing individualized tutoring and academic support. I hold a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from the University of New Mexico and a Level 2 New Mexico K–8 teaching license. I am also LETRS certified, with specialized training in the science of reading and evidence-based literacy instruction. Reading and phonics are particular areas of interest for me, and I enjoy helping students strengthen their foundational reading skills, fluency, comprehension, and confidence as readers.
