Bio

My name is Cherrie Amor Chavez. My middle name means love, and that's how I like to approach teaching and learning, with a foundation of love and understanding. I really enjoy traveling and as a teacher I was very fortunate to leave the country every year during the summer. I also speak Spanish, which was very helpful, not only in the Spanish speaking countries, but also in Portugal, France, and Italy. My fiancée and I are learning how to sail with the goal of someday sailing around the world! I choose to become a tutor so I can stay connected with what I love to do while I travel. I believe students learn best when they are actively engaged in the subject. I like to incorporate songs or games whenever possible to make it fun. It is important to provide feedback immediately after a lesson or in the moment. I approach teaching with kindness and understanding. My goal as a tutor is to help students realize their full potential in learning. Building students' confidence is key to success.

Teacher Specialization

I have taught 2nd and 3rd grade for 6 years. I then taught middle school Math and Science for two years. I also taught high school Geometry for two years. I posses a multiple subject credential from California, with a single subject authorization in Science.
