Bio
Hi! My name is Cheryl! I am thrilled to be an online tutor this school year. When I am not tutoring, I enjoy reading novels, watching YouTube, sewing, and traveling with my 13 year old son and husband. A fun fact about me is that instead of taking a regular job while in college, I made wedding dresses for extra income. The main reason I wanted to become a tutor is I miss being in the classroom and watching my students learn and grow. Teaching is my passion and I love nothing more than helping students develop their reading, writing, and math skills and achieve their academic goals. I believe every student can learn and will learn when given the tools to do just that. I am happy to provide 1 on 1 or small group tutoring to everyone. My goal is to create a learning environment that is conducive to active and engaged learning. Also, I strive to be evidence based and create a safe space for making learning experiences fun.
Teacher Specialization
I have 16+ years teaching in the elementary, middle school, and high school classrooms . I have been a reading interventionist for the past 3 years in grades 4-12, working with students that are second language learners, special needs, and delayed academically. I spent my first 10 years teaching K-2 in all areas. My passion is reading, whether I am teaching basic skills or teaching upper level reading strategies.
