Bio
Hello there. My name is Cheryl Irvin. I am a mom of two, a wife of a firefighter, and I love to share learning with students. I believe students can learn through guidance and inquiry. We can enjoy the challenges of learning together. I help students to lean into the challenges with support from information and other resources. Whether the goals are for the big test, an assignment, or to support skill building in a subject, I can guide students to success in their goals. I will guide students to find the answers they seek and help them feel confident with their skills. I use individualized interests to help students to realize the real-world application of learning in school. I adjust learning and challenges to the student's needs. I know how to make learning happen through focus and engagement. I have experience in tutoring all content areas with students from the ages of 4-24. I am comfortable supporting students in multiple subjects and topics.
Teacher Specialization
I am a 22+ year experienced certified teacher in elementary education (all subjects), science (6th-8th grade), and language arts (6th-8th grade) in the state of Michigan. I am also a certified reading specialist. I am trained in teaching everyone to read Pre-K through adult. I have a bachelor's degree in education and a master's degree in reading from Central Michigan University. I hold two post master's certifications in education. I know you will feel confident after a session with me.
