Bio
Hi — I’m Cori Branton, an online tutor with K-12. I bring calm, practical strategies with a focus on building knowledge through real world experiences and connections. My favorite thing about teaching is getting to know my students. I am intrigued by what sets their soul on fire, how we are alike and different and helping them navigate a future that is right for them. On a personal note, I am a nature lover. I spend my free time camping, gardening and hosting family parties for every event you can imagine.
Teacher Specialization
Most of my experience has been in a classroom but I have also taught lots of different small groups in an alternative education setting for the past 12 years. Examples include: gen Ed classroom, medically homebound students 1:1, accelerated instruction for high school students fast tracking graduation and small group behavior/social skills. I have a bachelors degree in business with a concentration in finance. I am certified as a 4-8 generalist, ESL and professional pedagogy. My experience breaks down in subjects such as: science 6-12, math 6-8, college/career prep, and all core subjects K-12 to name a few for the past 12 years. Some teachers like to teach a grade/subject but I have found joy in a variety of subjects. My approach is practical. I break down concepts into bite size pieces, connect new knowledge to the real world and prior academic knowledge so that the new learning sticks long term.
