Bio
Hi! My name is Courtney Baker. I believe that every child deserves joyful, inclusive learning that honors their voice and sparks curiosity. I blend academic rigor with social-emotional learning to create safe, empowering spaces where students thrive. My lessons are rooted in student interests and real-world connections, tailored to each learner’s strengths. I build relationships through trust, humor, and celebration—students know I’m in their corner, cheering them on and helping them grow with confidence and kindness. I play the clarinet and love to sing! Whether it’s a classroom chant or a silly song, I bring rhythm and joy to our learning. Every learner deserves a champion. I’d be honored to support your child’s journey—let’s connect and get started.
Teacher Specialization
I specialize in building strong foundational reading skills, math fluency, and comprehension strategies for early and upper elementary learners. I’m a certified Reading Specialist with an M.S. in Reading from Nova Southeastern University (2012) and hold a B.S. in Early Childhood Education with a Minor in Psychology from the University of Central Florida (2009). My credentials include a Reading Endorsement, ELL Certification, and certifications in Culturally Responsive Standards-Based Teaching (Phases 1 & 2), Clinical Educator Training, and Common Core Black Belt. I’ve completed recent Impact Trainings in ELA, Math, and Science, and I’m proud to be a dual Teacher of the Year recipient (2015, 2025).
