Bio
Hello! My name is Courtnie, and I’m excited to begin this learning journey with you. I live in West Michigan, grew up in Indiana, and studied language and culture at Hokkaido University in Japan. I’m also a massive Disney fan! I have visited Disney World 30+times and never get sick of it. I love bringing creativity, storytelling, and real-world connections into my lessons. My teaching follows the whole-child philosophy, focusing on nurturing curiosity, building confidence, and making learning relevant to each student’s life and interests. I look forward to helping you grow and discover the joys of learning.
Teacher Specialization
I have 14 years of experience teaching a wide variety of social studies and English courses. I currently teach high school geography and contemporary world issues at Insight School of Michigan. I hold a bachelor's degree in social studies education from Ball State University and a master's degree in online education from Southern New Hampshire University. I am certified to teach in both Indiana and Michigan, grades 6-12, social studies, political science, history, and sociology.
