Bio
Hello, my name is David Bennett, and I am looking forward to helping students realize they are more capable and creative than they believe. So often, students just need to have something explained a different way or have someone model the thinking process needed for the problem at hand, and then it clicks! I began my teaching career in 2012 and have taught numerous subjects and spent four years as an assistant principal as well. I live in Tennessee with my wife, a cat named Rocco, and a dog named Barley. I have a B.S. in Computer Information Systems, Master of Arts in Teaching: Curriculum & Instruction, and Educational Specialist and Doctorate of Education degrees in Administrative Leadership.
Teacher Specialization
Twelve of my 14 years in education have been spent in a grades 6-8 middle school. I have taught STEM, project-based learning, computer literacy, keyboarding, yearbook, 7th grade English Language Arts, Tier 2/3 reading intervention, Tier 2/3 math intervention. I have also taught high school Tier 2/3 math and ACT Prep. It was my time teaching middle school reading/math intervention and Tier 2/3 high school math that I felt like I made the most significant impact on student success. As a student, the whole point of being in intervention/tier is to get the help and supports and strategies you need to move out of intervention/tier. I was very successful at getting students promoted out intervention/tier (especially in math), so they could be more successful in the general classroom and have more choices in their electives or related arts classes.
