Bio
Hi, my name is Dawn Snyder. After living and teaching in Iowa for most of our lives, my husband and I decided we would leave the cold to move to the beautiful Gulf Coast of Florida. Our two favorite things to do are so close now, boating and going to Disney World. Although I love doing both of these things, I really miss teaching. Because of this I have been tutoring on-line lately and Love it!! Watching students understand concepts or explore new ones reminds me of why I became a teacher. I am in my 3rd year using the on-line format for school based and private tutoring sessions. With only a few students in the sessions it is easy to tailor the lesson to the individual students' learning. It is also fun to encounter students from many different states. I look forward to meeting and instructing many more!
Teacher Specialization
I hold both Iowa and Florida teaching licenses with a reading endorsement and special education certification. I am a retired Iowa teacher, who recently relocated to Florida and decided I miss teaching after being out of the classroom for a few years. I have been a classroom teacher for 33 years, starting my career in a 2nd grade classroom and then proceeding to twenty-four years with 7th and 8th graders in English/Language Arts. The last seven years of my career were as a Reading and Math Interventionist with K-5 students. I enjoyed this immensely as I provided students with tools to gain reading and math skills. I have had multiple trainings and certifications throughout my years in education with my more recent being Orton Gillingham, Reading Recovery, Jolly Phonics, Really Great Reading, Lexia, The Write Tools, and Bridges (Math Intervention). I look forward to continuing my teaching journey helping students through an on-line format.
