Bio
Hello! I'm Debra, and I am so excited to begin my journey tutoring K12 students! I believe that students learn best from a caring teacher who provides strategies that align with a student's learning style. I have a strong ability to simplify complex concepts through utilizing creative techniques in order to reach struggling learners. I believe that verbal praise during a lesson is essential in building confidence and motivation. I value each student for their individual learning needs and strive to provide the accurate method to help them achieve academic success. I love to use humor while teaching. I also feel it is important to get to know their unique interests in order to create a fun and empowering learning environment!
Teacher Specialization
Throughout my career, I have worked with both Elementary and Middle school students. I hold a dual certification in both General Education 1-6, and Special Education K-8. I have nineteen years of teaching experience, including all core subjects K-8 in either a Special Ed/General Ed classroom setting. For the last three years I taught in a Sub Separate classroom for children with Autism (K-4). I have extensive experience utilizing ABA techniques for children who exhibit maladaptive behaviors. Student population: Autism, IEP, ADHD, ADD, Dyslexia, Dyscalculia, Social/Emotional & Behavioral Grades: 1-6 (Elementary) Special Education K-8 All Core Subjects, including: Math, Reading, Science, Social Studies, Social Skills.
