Bio
Hi there! I am a newly retired elementary teacher. I spent 27 years teaching students in grades K-5. For several years, I was an Early Intervention Program teacher, specializing in "closing gaps" for students who were behind in their academic learning progress. I have multiple years of experience teaching students who were either receiving special education services (through co-teaching model) or who were at risk of requiring special education services. My passion is helping students make strides in their ability to read and write! I love it when a student's eyes light up with emotion when a concept has taken hold and they understand what is being taught. I believe that all students have the capability for learning, they might just need to take a different approach. No two learners are the same - that is why I believe that multiple strategies may have to be implemented in order to achieve success! I would love the opportunity to work with your student!

I have a total of 27 years of teaching experience. Two years of teaching occurred in Florida, and the remainder of my teaching experience was in the state of Georgia. Many of my years were spent co-teaching students who received special education services. For several years, I had the opportunity to work with ESL students who were being fully immersed in the English language and learning experience. Several years of my teaching included conducting an online, virtual classroom. I hold a Bachelor's Degree, a Master's Degree in Reading Instruction, and a Specialist's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction. In addition to teaching full-time, I also tutored privately for 6 years. I also tutored online through private tutoring companies for 2 years. During this time, I worked with students in grades K-6, covering Math, Reading, Writing, Social Studies, and Science.
