Hi! My name is Mrs. Mengucci and I believe every child deserves a personalized education that works best for them. My passion for teaching has taken me around the world — I taught in Europe for six months before spending eight years teaching in Title 1 schools in Missouri and Oklahoma. I believe that students learn best when they have a meaningful and trusted relationship with their teacher so I work hard to create an environment that is warm, supportive, and respectful in every session. My tutoring approach is simple but powerful — I model the skill, we practice it together, and then the student practices independently — building real confidence and lasting understanding along the way. My goal is not just to help students get the right answer but to help them think creatively and believe in themselves as learners. Teacher Specialization
I have 8 years of classroom teaching experience ranging from 2nd through 4th grade. I have been a tutor for the last 5 years. I also have a masters degree in Elementary Education. My greatest strengths as an educator lie in early literacy and foundational reading skills. I am trained in the science of reading and specialize in phonics instruction, phonemic awareness, fluency, and reading comprehension. I am trained in UFLI Foundations — a structured literacy program rooted in the science of reading — and use its systematic and explicit approach to build strong decoding and spelling skills in every student I work with. I have experience working with struggling readers and students who need intervention support to build the strong foundation they need to become confident independent readers. I also specialize in early math including number sense, place value, addition and subtraction, multiplication and division, and word problem solving.
