Bio
Hello! My name is Elizabeth and I am super excited to work with you! I live in the mountains in Colorado and love seeing bear, moose and elk all of the time! I have been teaching English for thirty years. I am an energetic and creative educator with over thirty years of teaching experience, and I am deeply passionate about helping students succeed. I have been committed to creating engaging, student-centered learning environments that inspire curiosity and a love of English. I take the time to meet each student's individual needs and learning styles building positive relationships with students and families. My teaching philosophy centers on success for every student through high expectations, inclusive practices, and adaptive instruction. Through my extensive classroom and online teaching experience, I adapt instruction to meet the diverse needs of learners while encouraging critical thinking and scientific exploration.
Teacher Specialization
I hold a bachelors in secondary education and a masters in educational technology. I have 30 years of teaching experience including teaching Advanced Placement Literature and Composition and Advanced Placement Language and Composition for 10+ years. I have also taught 9-12th including various elective courses, including special needs, ADD, ADHD, Autism, dyslexia as well as other individual needs students. I also have extensive experience in teaching online classes to grade levels 6-12 where I served as a lead teacher and helped coordinate the enrollment and placement of students. As a tutor I strive to build lessons that actively involve students through discussion, questioning, and interactive activities, connect reading and writing tasks to students’ real-life experiences and interests Increasing student participation and confidence in speaking, reading, and writing. I also incorporate varied formats (games, debates, multimedia) to keep attention and motivation.
