Bio
Hello! My name is Liz and I live in the midwest with my husband, four children, and our golden retriever. When I'm not running to ball games or dance performances, I am doing my other favorite thing--teaching! After teaching elementary and special education at a school for six years, I have been tutoring for the past fifteen years. My educational philosophy is that all students can learn and be successful and my goals as a tutor reflect this. I aim to build a good rapport with each student and help them to believe in themselves while reaching their academic goals. I build relationships with my students by getting to know them--their strengths, weaknesses, likes, dislikes, and their goals, and incorporating these into everything we do.
Teacher Specialization
I have been a teacher for over 20 years. I love helping students in all areas, but have specialized in dyslexia and reading and spelling difficulties for the past seven years. With a Masters Degree in Reading Specialization, plus additional training and experience with Orton-Gillingham methods, I have seen first-hand how individualized, appropriate instruction makes all the difference. As a teacher, I have taught elementary education and special education to grades K-6. As a tutor, I have taught reading (PreK-12), writing (PreK-8), math (PreK-8), science (PreK-8), social studies (PreK-8), and study skills (K-12). For over seven years, I have done taught primarily online and love it!
