Bio
Hi, I'm Ms. Emily! I'm certified to teach preschool through 5th grade. I am passionate about creating meaningful, effective learning experiences. My teaching style utilizes scaffolding, where I model a skill, then we try the skill together, and then the student tries. I give feedback along the way to ensure we stay on the right track. I hope to help my students build confidence in their learning so that they feel comfortable tackling new challenges. I encourage my students to think critically and creatively, ask questions, and bring their interests and ideas to the session. I'm committed to helping my students grow and achieve academic excellence. I think building positive relationships with students is essential to the tutoring process, and I believe a supportive and inclusive environment will help students shine. When I'm not tutoring, I enjoy watching movies and spending time with family & my two cats. I'm eager to be your tutor! I'm so excited to learn a lot and have fun with you!!

I have my Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood General and Special Education. I have extensive teaching and tutoring experience. I have a combined teaching & tutoring experience of 9 years: I have been a preschool teacher for 1 year, an elementary school teacher for 3 years, and a tutor for 5 years. I have worked with elementary-level students through one-on-one tutoring and small group instruction. I have been to Slovakia, where I worked with Slovak and Roma children with the help of translators. I have a passion for learning to communicate with students who speak different languages. I have been an overnight camp counselor and a day camp counselor, and I love sharing new experiences with students. Throughout my career, I've had the opportunity to impact many children's lives and further develop skills such as problem-solving, collaboration, and differentiation of instruction. I value diverse perspectives, integrity, and continuous improvement. I love learning, teaching, & inspiring!!
