Bio
Hello. My name is Mrs. Hester. I believe that students learn best in an environment that they enjoy and feel safe to make mistakes. Being able to view mistakes as part of the learning process will help us grow as learners. My tutoring sessions are structured around active participation. Students should come prepared to use their microphone and the built in learning tools that our platform offers. Students are also encouraged to bring a whiteboard to practice writing on during class time.
Teacher Specialization
I have a Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education. I have been working in education for eight years and have over four years of experience as an online classroom teacher at Stride K12. During my time teaching online, I have taught 1st grade all subjects, 2nd grade all subjects, and 4th grade English Language Arts. I am most passionate about teaching phonics and reading. I strongly believe that the ability to read is one of the most powerful skills teachers can help learners achieve. Once a student is able to read, the learning possibilities are endless.
