Bio
Welcome! My name is Tutor Haley Tylka. I love reading, writing, playing tennis, watching soccer (football) and teaching! I am currently rereading Charlotte's Web, one of my favorites. I can't wait to hear about your hobbies, what you're reading, your pets, and your story! I have a spunky 6 year-old Corgi named Astro. I'm from Michigan yet have lived in Nicaragua and now reside in Florida. I speak Spanish and English. My passions are environmental education, recycling, exploring new places, watching tennis and hiking. I believe my role as your teacher/tutor is to follow the I do, We Do, You Do by giving you an example, doing it together, and then having you do it independently to show that you got it. By the end of each lesson, you will be different than the beginning based on our clear learning goals. I will help you become more self-directed and enhance your ability to ask questions and deepen your learning and thinking! I look forward to meeting you.
Teacher Specialization
This is my 24th year teaching K-8 reading, writing, English Language Arts, Science, and English Language Learners. I have my Bachelors of Science in Elementary Education with an emphasis on Science and Language Arts. I have my Masters of Arts in Middle Level Education with a specialization in teaching middle school students. I have taught students both in the United States and abroad in Nicaragua in person since 1999 as well as students all over the world online since 2017.
