Bio
Hello! My students call me Ms. B. I live in Texas with my husband, our toddler, and our dog, Alfie. I love reading and writing, and my goal as an educator is to instill that love in my students using a variety of strategies to meet their unique needs. In my teaching journey, I've sprinkled a touch of magic to make reading and writing not just lessons but fun and relevant experiences. I believe in a classroom vibe where laughter mingles with learning, and the "oops" moments are celebrated as much as the "aha!" ones. I also believe in embracing technology in education and aim to seamlessly integrate tech into my lessons to maximize learning and engagement for all. On that note, I am excited to jump into the world of virtual learning with you!
Teacher Specialization
I began my education journey in 2015 tutoring at my university for a year. I also taught one-on-one music lessons at a center for a year, and then I tutored ACT/SAT prep for 5 months before beginning classroom teaching. I taught 12th grade English for 2 years and then high school Journalism for a year. After that, I switched over to virtual teaching and spend a year teaching 11th grade English at a K12 virtual school, on top of virtual tutoring. I have a Bachelor of Music and a Master's in Mass Communication. I have a valid Texas teaching certification in 7-12 English Language Arts and have also passed the exam for 7-12 Journalism.
