Bio
Hi! I’m Harmony, an experienced and dedicated educator with a passion for helping students grow academically and emotionally. I previously worked as a paraeducator supporting students with Emotional and Behavioral Disorders, and I have a full year of remote teaching experience that strengthened my ability to create engaging and effective online learning. My teaching philosophy centers on meeting students where they are, building strong foundational skills, and fostering confidence through patient, structured, and encouraging instruction. I believe learning should feel attainable and motivating, and I work hard to build positive relationships that help students feel safe taking risks and proud of their progress.
Teacher Specialization
I specialize in elementary reading, writing, and math, with a strong focus on foundational literacy, comprehension, writing development, and upper-elementary math. I am trained in UFLI Foundations, a research-based reading program that uses explicit, systematic phonics instruction to build decoding, spelling, and fluency skills—especially helpful for students needing targeted reading support. With eight years of 4th-grade experience, one year in 5th grade, special education support, and a year of remote teaching, I tailor instruction to each learner’s needs. I support students who need structure, intervention, confidence-building, or enrichment. I bring a calm, student-centered approach that helps children build skills and independence. I hold a B.A. in Elementary Education from Loyola University Chicago (2015), with ESL, Social Science, and Self-Contained endorsements.
