Bio
I’m Heather Horn, a Texas-based educator who loves spending time with my family, reading, solving logic puzzles, gardening, crafting, and learning new things. I believe the best learning happens when students feel seen, supported, and capable, with growth built through patience, trust, and instruction that honors each child’s unique strengths. My goal is for every student to leave our sessions not only with greater understanding, but with increased confidence in their abilities. As a former Teacher of the Year and experienced Instructional Coach, I have supported both students and educators in meeting high academic standards. I specialize in making complex concepts engaging and accessible, and I am passionate about nurturing curiosity and helping children reach their fullest potential.
Teacher Specialization
With over 21 years of experience in education, both in-person and virtual, I bring a proven record of excellence and a deep commitment to student success. I hold a Master’s degree in Gifted Education and certifications in all subjects EC–8, Math 6–12, ESL EC–12, and GT EC–12. I taught for 16 years, including 6 years in virtual schools, with experience teaching Math from Pre-K through Algebra I and ELA in grades 3–6. In addition to teaching, I served as a virtual instructional coach, supporting teachers across all subjects in designing engaging, rigorous lessons that strengthen student learning. I offer tutoring in Math from Kindergarten through Algebra II, as well as Elementary and Middle School Science, Social Studies, and ELA, with a specialty in Math for grades 4 through Algebra I.
