Bio

I am a high school math teacher who believes every student can learn math when it is explained clearly and patiently. My teaching philosophy is simple: math makes sense when it is explained clearly, patiently, and step-by-step. I break down complex ideas into manageable pieces and make sure students understand the “why,” not just the procedure. I create a structured, encouraging environment where students feel safe to ask questions and think through problems. My goal as a tutor is to build confidence alongside skill. Many students simply need encouragement and reassurance along the way, and that is one of the many things I offer! I focus on clarity, consistency, and strong communication so students feel supported rather than overwhelmed. I build relationships by listening carefully, meeting students where they are, and helping them experience success through guided practice and steady progress. I enjoy playing the piano and flute and learning more about self-improvement and growth.

Teacher Specialization

I have 20 years of experience teaching high school mathematics, including special education certification and extensive experience working with diverse learners. I currently teach in a virtual setting and understand how to build clarity, structure, and connection in an online environment. My experience includes Pre-Algebra, Algebra I and II, Geometry, and foundational math skills, with a strong emphasis on conceptual understanding. I have extensive experience supporting students with ADHD, learning disabilities, emotional/behavioral needs, and varying learning profiles. Because I teach and tutor virtually, I am skilled at explaining math clearly without relying on in-person cues. I use guided practice, questioning strategies, and visual breakdowns to help students stay engaged and process information effectively. I specialize in helping students who feel "stuck" in math rebuild confidence through structure, repetition, and clear explanations tailored to how they learn best.
