Bio
I believe students learn best when they are invested and interested in what they are leaning. Along with having the appropriate level of work to complete independently. I provide meaningful feedback by digging deeper with students to see if there is anything they left out or could be corrected, hoping that they will be able to identify their errors, then working through the problem with them. My key belief as a tutor is to make learning relatable to them and enjoyable. If a student is already struggling they start off feeling defeated, so I like to shine a light to what their strengths are and move forward with that. My main goal is to help a student who is struggling feel confident in their work and progress. Creating a strong relationship is key. Getting to know the students and their interest help build the relationship so they feel safe and will be more invested in what we are working on. I have taught for 6 1/2 years, my husband is in the military and we have two dogs!
Teacher Specialization
I have my degree in Elementary Education, and minor in Diversity Studies. I started my career in Wake County teaching all subjects, at the same school I went to as a child! I worked with 3rd grade Read to Achieve, then taught 4th, then moved up with that same class and taught 5th grade for 2 years. I moved to Onslow County and taught 5th grade math and science for 3 years. I have taught online during covid, I have also tutored students online during that time and after as well. All throughout my teaching career I have tutored after school or worked with a program helping students who have been struggling.
