Bio
Hi! I believe learning happens thru engaging lessons that are relatable to real life and thru specific teacher feedback to guide and motivate students. Each student is an individual; therefore, instruction should be tailored to individual needs and presented so students understand. My goal for tutoring students is to make learning fun, build relationships and assist students in their learning journey. It is my desire to meet each student where they are in their learning, create engaging and fun lessons, and build relationships. I heard it said that students don't care how much you know until they know how much you care. It is important for me to know my students both academically and relationally so students feel supported and valued. In addition to teaching, I enjoy spending time with my three children, exploring the outdoors, reading a good book, and going on family trips. My goal in becoming a teacher is to encourage others learning and influence others.
Teacher Specialization
I have taught Special Education for 7 years in grades K-6 in the following subjects: Math, Language Arts, Reading, History/Social Studies, Science, Writing. I hold a Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education and Special Education. All 7 years of previous teaching have been in a physical classroom, but I am excited to begin my virtual teaching experience as a tutor. I believe all students can enjoy learning and I like to engage students in their learning by relating their lessons to hobbies or real life. I believe it is best to teach lessons to students thru their strengths and how they best learn, making learning individual for each student no matter where they are in their educational journey.
