Bio
Hello! My name is Jessica Walker, and I believe every student has the ability to grow and succeed. My goal as a tutor is to meet students where they are, help them build confidence, and give them the tools and support they need to take the next step forward. I believe students learn best when they feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and being themselves. I strive to create a positive, encouraging environment where students know they are supported not only academically, but as individuals. Math can feel challenging, but it doesn’t have to feel impossible! Together, we’ll break difficult concepts into manageable steps, celebrate progress, and keep working toward success.
Teacher Specialization
I have more than a decade of experience in education, working with students from kindergarten through high school in both traditional and virtual learning environments. My teaching career began in special education, where I focused on identifying and bridging learning gaps and helping students build the foundational skills they needed for success. I later transitioned into secondary mathematics, teaching Algebra 1 and Geometry to students with a wide range of learning needs and abilities, including gifted students, students receiving special education services, RTI students, and Tier 1 learners. These experiences strengthened my ability to break challenging concepts into manageable steps and adjust instruction to meet each student where they are. My experience also includes teaching grades 5 and kindergarten in a private school setting, as well as teaching English to Chinese students in a fully immersive virtual classroom.
