Bio
Hello! My name is Jessica Walker. I believe all students can grow! As educators we must meet them where they are and provide the proper steps for them to climb the growth and achievement ladder. Students want honest, real adults in their life. They want people who are genuinely interested in them as a person, as well as academically.
Teacher Specialization
My teaching career started with special education and bridging reading gaps. I then took on a role teaching high school Algebra 1 and Geometry. I had a variety of levels of students, including gifted, Special education, RTI, and tier 1 students. I then taught at a private school grades 5 and kindergarten through the pandemic. During this time we all became very comfortable with virtual learning and meeting online. During this time I also taught English to Chinese students in a full emersion classroom. Keeping young students attention was always a fun challenge that enjoyed daily! My current position is teaching Algebra 1 to high school students. I have been in education for over a decade. I have taught multiple ages in my career spanning from kindergarten to high school. I feel like all students can grow and bridging the learning gaps ensures success. For the past three years I have been a level 5 teacher in the state of TN. I currently hold a masters degree in mathematics education.
