Bio
Hello! My name is Jessica and I have been a teacher for 12 years! Some things I love are spending time outside with my dog, reading, running, and coffee! I coached Cross Country and Girls on the Run. I became a teacher because I believe that everyone deserves to have someone who believes in them who will help them be successful both inside and outside the classroom. I want students to understand that they are bigger than any obstacles that stand in their way. I believe that students need appropriate scaffolding when learning new concepts and they need ample time to practice their learning. Not all students learn in the same way, so it is important to differentiate instruction so that students can learn how they learn best. My goal is to have students gain confidence along with their understanding of the concepts being tutored. Students will have great success with high levels of critical thinking skills that they can apply to their college or career. Let have fun while we learn!
Teacher Specialization
I taught 6th and 7th grade Reading and 6th Grade Social Studies for six years, then I taught 5th grade for five years, and finished my classroom teaching as a 4th grade teacher. I feel that I have grown so much as an educator over the last 12 years, especially in 2020 when all learning became remote and I had to shift my teaching to be able to reach students remotely. I feel that teaching remotely has set me up for success as an online tutor because I have a few years of experience when it comes to teaching online.
