Bio
Hello! My name is Joanne Shifflett. I have a love of literature, and I believe that every student can find that as well if they are presented with the right story! My goal as a tutor is to have my students walk away from a session feeling confident and capable in an area that they previously felt uncertainty in. In college, I worked as a tutor in the CHANCE program at Northern Illinois University, and that experience ignited a passion for teaching within me! I look forward to meeting you and working with you!
Teacher Specialization
I have taught in the classroom for 13 years ranging from 6th-12th grade, but I am comfortable tutoring younger students as well. I have taught students with learning disabilities, English Language Learners, and gifted students. I graduated from Northern Illinois University with a B.A. in English, and then went on to get my Master of Arts in Teaching from National-Louis University in Chicago, Illinois.
