Bio
I am an Eagle Scout and have had many different experiences guiding fellow scouts when I was a part of Boy Scouts of America. A hobby I just recently started is kickboxing; I have also practiced HEMA (Historical European Martial Arts). I wanted to become a tutor so that I could positively impact more students and to also challenge myself as an educator to become better at my craft. I believe in a constructivist approach to learning where students have the cognitive tools to learn skills and they just need guidance and opportunities to practice. I aim to give students more time to meaningfully practice academic skills with someone to guide them through the process. I also look to promote and build other skills such as critical thinking and problem solving through my teaching. When I interact with students, I talk to them as if I were having a conversation and always make sure to meet them on their level. I also incorporate humor in my teaching, because you learn more when having fun.
Teacher Specialization
I have a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from Florida Southern College. Along with my education and certification for elementary education (k-6), I also have endorsements for reading (Reading Endorsement) and ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages)
