Bio
Hello! I am a mother of two awesome little girls. They always motivated me to pursue teaching, and now tutoring, to support others' needs 1:1 or in small groups. I enjoy the lake, beach, reading, and writing! We also have a pet rabbit named, Clover. My tutoring goals include helping students meet their full academic potential through research-based teaching strategies and practices, to build their confidence in learning, and facilitate an active growth mindset. I want them to feel equipped to share and apply what they've learned through their tutoring sessions to their own experiences and lives beyond the K12 Tutoring platform. This fosters a positive student-teacher learning dynamic. I aim to facilitate learning for each subject and grade level, in a way that complements a student's interests and developmental needs, so they can explain from their level of understanding to others, closing learning gaps through active reflection. I will model leadership, empathy, and lifetime learning.
Teacher Specialization
I am a licensed educator with a M.A.T. (teaching) degree and four years of direct K-6 Elementary Education classroom experience. Through the state of North Carolina, I am qualified to teach grade level subjects from Kindergarten through 6th grade. This was achieved by successfully passing state exams and completing all Elementary Education credits as required. I have experience working directly with those who have various disabilities and challenges. I also have substantial experience working with ESL students, and other behavioral or academically tiered needs. Over the course of my traditional teaching career and education pursuits, I implemented appropriate teaching strategies, analyzed data, supported instructional technology use, navigated student needs, parent communication, grading, and more. My most prominent experience is at the K-2 level, as a previous 1st and 2nd grade teacher for three years, in addition to prior, and current, substitute teaching in all K-6 grade levels.
