Julie M.

Bio

I’m Julie, a supportive K–12 tutor specializing in elementary academics, reading fluency, writing skills, and organization. With a background in Psychology and experience working with diverse learners, I use a steady, encouraging approach that helps students understand material, stay focused, and feel proud of their progress. I believe children learn best when they feel safe, understood, and guided at a pace that makes sense for them. My goal is to strengthen core skills, build confidence, and help students develop the habits and independence they need to thrive in and out of the classroom.

Teacher Specialization

I have approximately 8 years of experience supporting students across K–8 in both in‑person and virtual settings. My specialty in ELA work includes literacy support, reading fluency, writing development, and executive‑functioning skills like planning, focus, and task organization. My math support includes, foundational math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division), number sense and place value, fractions, time, money, basic geometry, word‑problem strategies and reading‑comprehension support for math tasks. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology/Human Services, which shapes my trauma‑informed, student‑centered approach and helps me create a learning environment where students feel capable, supported, and motivated. I am also currently working on my masters degree in social work and hope to have it completed in December.
