Bio
Hello! My name is Katherine Merritt, and I am an experienced, certified English Language Arts and Humanities teacher with over 30 years of experience in teaching Reading, secondary ELA and college humanities. I have taught in the e-college arena for the last 19 years for two universities and also in person at the middle school and high school levels. I am also a former librarian and a published author. I am passionate about the language arts, education, and learning.
Teacher Specialization
I believe that all students can learn with the right level of support. I have taught and tutored a variety of ages with diverse learning styles and abilities as well as cultures. I have significant experience with differentiated instructed and will design a learning plan unique to the student's needs. I am certified in the state of Arizona in grades 6-12 English Language Arts and have certificate endorsements in both Reading and Media Center specialities. I have taught remedial reading and also volunteered to work with young elementary students who needed some added reading support in the classroom. I am comfortable with all ages. I am also the author of an award winning children's book and love to incorporate a creative side to my teaching. I am an avid reader and enjoy hiking and my animals in my spare time. My passion in education is to watch people achieve their goals and experience success in their academic goals .
