Bio
Hi! My name is Laura Nelson. I am a budding teacher with a lifelong love of learning and discovery. I hope to motivate today's generation of students to fall in love with learning too through the digital platforms that they are already familiar with. I believe that students learn best when they are engaged in combined visual and creative activities. As a tutor, I want to engage k-12 students in high impact learning, regardless of their location. In our tutoring sessions, students will be reading, writing, and discussing the material to ensure that they are actively engaged. Students will learn to take ownership of their learning by referencing the tools learned in tutoring. Sessions will be supportive and inclusive, incorporating the thrill of discovery and discussion.
Teacher Specialization
I have been teaching for nearly 3 years. Prior to that, I received my bachelor's degree in Government from St. John's University. My teaching certification is in social studies grades 4-8; however, I have been a teacher of record for language arts, writing, the science of reading, social studies, and Dyslexia Intervention.
