Bio

Hello, I am Mrs. Wells! My husband and I, along with our three elementary-aged children, live in western Oregon. Of all my experience with teaching and tutoring over the years, I have come to enjoy online teaching and learning the best! One of the most important aspects of teaching for me is the ability to get to know my students and personalize the learning experience in ways that make sense to individual learning needs and styles. My instruction style involves breaking concepts down into steps, finding and using helpful resources, holding important discussions, and seeking out connections between various concepts or subject matter. Real-world connections are very important in every subject, and I enjoy helping students to make those connections in their learning. I also enjoy creating a fun, safe, supportive, and inclusive environment in which students can learn. Outside of teaching, I enjoy spending time with my family, oil painting, photography, reading, and hiking with my dog.

Teacher Specialization

I have been teaching since 2004 and hold a masters degree in education (M.Ed) from Oregon State University. My experience includes teaching middle school math and science (7 years in district, 5 years virtually), on-and-off substituting grades 3-8 (3 years), learning center k-12 tutoring (math, ELA, and SAT/ACT prep) and Managing Director (3.5 years), private tutoring for local families and virtually for students with disabilities and ESL (3.5 years), and homeschooling my own children.
