Bio
Hi! My name is Lisa Puma. I am currently an 8th grade math and French teacher in Virginia. I enjoy teaching but my real passion is working individually with students. I believe in differentiating instruction style to meet the needs of each student. I will tailor a lesson for you that is easy to understand and that will help you achieve your math or French goals. In my opinion, learning is facilitated by doing, so I will encourage you to engage with the material and to explain your thinking process. I also believe that learning should be fun so I try to incorporate a variety of activities into my tutoring sessions. I am looking forward to working with you and helping you have a successful school year!
Teacher Specialization
I have been teaching math for the past 30 years. I have taught all levels of math from 6th grade through pre-calculus and I have taught French 1 and 2. I have experience working with students who have learning disabilities, students with autism, and students who are identified as gifted. In addition to teaching in the classroom, I have worked as a private tutor, a homebound tutor, and a tutor for Mathnasium.
