Bio
Hi, my name is Mrs. Schimizzi (or Mrs. S for short)! I believe students learn best when they feel supported, engaged, and confident in their ability to grow. In terms of feedback, I believe it works best when it is given right away and helps students understand their thinking, learn from mistakes, and keep them moving forward. My ultimate goal is to help every student build confidence in themselves and their ability to tackle challenges, both academically and beyond. Building strong relationships is important in helping students achieve their goals. When I'm teaching, I use my students interests to tie into lessons and teaching moments. This make learning fun and relatable to my students. In my free time, I enjoy running, reading, and going on walks with my dog and husband. I chose to become a tutor because I love helping students discover that they are capable of more than they think.
Teacher Specialization
I am a two-time graduate of Michigan State University's College of Education. I earned my undergraduate degree in Elementary Education, with minors in Elementary Mathematics Education, English Language Arts (ELA), and Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL). I am certified to teach these subjects K-8. Throughout my teaching career, I have taught kindergarten, first grade, and second grade. I currently work as an online middle school math teacher, where I enjoy helping students build confidence in mathematics in a virtual learning environment. I also earned my master's degree from Michigan State University in Educational Technology, along with a certificate in Online Teaching and Learning. This background has strengthened my ability to use technology effectively to create engaging, meaningful, and supportive learning experiences for students in an online setting.
