Bio
I am a highly experienced elementary educator with over 25 years of teaching experience across grades PK–6, including extensive work in multi-age learning environments. Throughout my career, I have focused on helping students develop strong, well-rounded academic foundations in reading, writing, mathematics, and content areas, using research-based instructional practices tailored to each child’s needs. I bring a calm, encouraging, and structured approach to tutoring, creating a learning environment where students feel supported, confident, and motivated to grow. I genuinely love working with children and take great care in building positive relationships that help students feel safe to take risks and persevere. I partner closely with families to ensure learning is purposeful, responsive, and aligned, supporting both academic progress and a lasting love of learning.
Teacher Specialization
I am an elementary school teacher with grade PK-6 classroom and virtual teaching experience. I have maintained my K-8 teacher certification for 30 years after receiving my Master's Degree in Teaching and Learning from the University of Southern Maine. Prior to my graduate studies, I earned a Bachelor's Degree in Art History with a minor in Education from Bowdoin College. I have recently received my certificate in Instructional Design and Application. I completed and earned my National Board for Professional Teaching Certificate over a decade ago and, in addition to my degrees and certificates, I have earned more than 60 extra graduate credits through Education coursework throughout my teaching career. I have been recognized by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation for my work in bringing Next Generation Science Standards to my district and have worked as a Science Resource Partner with the Research in STEM Education Center (RISE) at the University of Maine, Orono.
