Bio
Hi! I'm a K–12 tutor who loves helping kids who learn a little differently. I'm multi-subject credentialed and specialize in students with mild to moderate special needs, and my favorite thing is designing creative lessons that give every kid their own way in, whether that's finally "getting" fractions, sounding out those first tricky words, or just believing they can do it. I've spent a lot of time with ESL/ELL students, including three years volunteering to teach English online to kids in rural China. And if your child has some behavioral challenges? No worries. I bring plenty of patience, consistency, and calm to the table. Mostly, I just make learning fun. When a kid is engaged, the progress follows, and there's nothing better than watching a subject go from "ugh" to "again!" Grade levels: Students at or near grade level through 6th grade, and students with mild to moderate special needs beyond that Special needs support using Universal Design for Learning to give every student multiple ways to succeed Early reading, including phonics, decoding, and building fluency for emerging and struggling readers Math foundations, with fractions as a particular strength ESL/ELL instruction, backed by three years teaching English online to students in rural China Fluent in Spanish, making it easier to connect with Spanish-speaking students and families. A focus on making learning genuinely fun and something students look forward to. I am comfortable teaching online, and I have taught in two programs prior. I have completed 2 years of my Master's in Education program at the University of Redlands and hold two teaching credentials: Multiple Subject and Mild to Moderate. I did 4 years of education and got two bachelor's degrees Liberal Studies and Race and Ethnic Studies.
