Hello everyone! My name is Melissa Schmitt, and I am excited to help you achieve your educational goals this year! I currently live in the St Louis area with my son and our sweet dog, but we also spend a lot of time in Nashville, TN with family. I have been an in-person teacher in our area for many years but switched over to teaching virtually 3 years ago. I love to travel and have visited all 50 states and over 30 countries on 5 of the continents! I hope to travel to Africa and Antarctica soon. Before I jet off to these wonderful places, I can't wait to meet you and help you to excel in whatever areas that you need.
Teacher Specialization
I have 29 years of experience as a Social Studies and ELA teacher. I earned a Master of Arts in History at Southern Illinois University and a Bachelor of Science in Education at the University of Illinois. I have also traveled overseas with high school students, been a college instructor and supervisor and am a mother of 2 teenagers. I am also a published author in "Illinois History Teacher" Magazine.
