Bio

My name is Nicole Nelson, and I recently served my state as Manager of Training and Instruction for one of the leading Teacher Prep programs. My teaching philosophy centers on cultivating curiosity, confidence, and character while striking a balance between high expectations and compassion. Over my career, I have taught K–8, coached educators, and led district-wide professional development, including multi-year PD strategies and curriculum implementation with Amplify and Guidebooks. I am working on publishing a children’s book that reflects my family’s legacy of education. Recognized for my work in instructional leadership and practitioner training, I value the growth moments when learners say, “I can do this.” My teaching style is encouraging, collaborative, and reflective, with a balance of creativity and steadiness that helps learners feel safe taking risks while striving for excellence.

Teacher Specialization

I bring over a decade of experience in education, specializing in literacy and language development, with extensive virtual teaching and tutoring experience. I’ve taught students in grades K–8 across literacy, language development, and mathematics. While I enjoy teaching math, my passion lies in helping learners build strong reading, writing, and communication skills. I design engaging, flexible lessons that support student confidence in virtual environments. I also coach educators in implementing research-based curricula like Amplify and Guidebooks. My expertise includes creating digital resources, tracking progress, and fostering meaningful relationships online. I hold a Bachelor's in Elementary Education and a Master's in Curriculum and Instruction, with specializations in Educational Leadership, instructional coaching, literacy intervention, and curriculum design.
