Bio
My name is Patrick, but known to my students as Mr. Boldt. I believe that tutoring is more than just helping students find the right answers or studying for a test. It's about building self-confidence and self-esteem in students so that they feel better about themselves. My teaching philosophy is to instill a growth mindset which encourages students to try and try again until they succeed. The best way to master curriculum is to build a strong relationship between tutee and tutor. The first step to building this relationship is about acknowledging strengths and weaknesses with constant practice and differentiation, such as offering visual guides that reinforce learning. I believe that students should bring a desire to learn which is reinforced by a tutor that encourages deeper investigation and problem solving. If you work with me, your child will become stronger both intellectually and personally.
Teacher Specialization
I have been a professional educator for 5 years and have plenty of experience as both a tutor and teacher. I am very familiar with the best pedagogies and the importance of showing differentiated learning in order to boost student confidence and independence. My specialty is social studies/history, though I am also well versed at teaching middle school science, especially life and earth science. I have been a virtual online tutor for 3+ years through Wyzant and other platforms. I have a Master of Arts in Teaching with a social studies endorsement at the secondary level, a bachelor of science in biology, and a bachelor of arts in psychology.
