Bio
Hello! I'm Mrs. Clark, "The Book Lady," because I love to share my love of books with others! It probably isn't surprising that my favorite hobby is reading! Some other hobbies I have enjoyed are: making quilt tops, trying new recipes and baking bread. I also love the outdoors and nature, especially trees! I love animals and have a very old miniature dachshund named Abby. She will be 17 in March! I decided to become an online tutor because it allows me to have much more focused work with only one, or sometimes two or three students at a time, where I feel I can make a bigger difference in student learning. I believe students need to be interested and engaged to learn. Teaching reading skills in a streamlined, interactive and fun way can facilitate a student's decoding skills, comprehension and fluency in an accelerated manner. It is much more effective than skills taught in isolation. I am a caring, friendly and encouraging teacher and look forward to working with your child!
Teacher Specialization
I taught kindergarten in public school. I homeschooled two of my children for about 3 and 1/2 years. I have done substitute teaching for a number of years in my local school system. I have completed extended substitute jobs lasting 6-8 weeks in various grade levels, including: first, second, third, and fourth grade, as well as gifted. I have a Masters in Reading Education.
